. good morning, melanie. >> reporter: good morning. this is all related to the city's speed camera program as we well know. there's been a lot of criticism. generated $85 million just in last fiscal year alone. new york avenue the camera is the third most ticketed. now, the higher speed limits that will begin here is not in where that speed camera is. it is part of mayor gray's comprehensive review. so let's look at where they raised the speet limits. first here on new york avenue eastbound, 45 miles an hour. new york avenue westbound from the maryland line to blade nsburg road. north capitol street from michigan to harewood road 40 to 45. and canal road from chain bridge to foxhall. >>> do have speed camera programs is to make sure before they put a camera in to make sure the speed limits are appropriate for the roadways. mayor gray says the reassessment of the speed limit shows the changes can be made without compromising safety. also the same for parts of 295 as well. those are the most ticketed locations about a month ago. the city council today is going to be looking at a spee

in northern maryland and certainly a possibility even here in the city tomorrow we could get light accumulations. i'm going to give you the seven- day forecast, might as well give it to you early. snow, rain for saturday. and quieter weather into the new year. more details on all the forecasts, including the timing on tomorrow's snow coming up. let's do traffic and get the latest from jeff. good morning. >> starting in prince george's county, not much volume here in either direction. the significance is it's on my way to fed ex and i'm starting to tailgate in about two hours for sunday's game. looking good on other roadways. pennsylvania, and branch avenue and route 50. we'll head over to the fairfax county parkway, it's 95 north, looking good in both your hov lanes and the main line, up from stafford county to the mixing bowl, and over to montgomery county, just north of the american legion bridge. light coming in from virginia around the inner loop into montgomery county. outer loop looks good as well down 270 to the split. no problems on the bw parkway or 95 between the beltways

midnight. maybe 38, 39 degrees here in the city. not a bad go-round this year no new year's eve. it is cold. 30 in washington. ignore the annapolis, 48. that once not working for some reason. 29 in baltimore. 28 in leonardtown. we are getting close to teens here in manassas and culpeper. 21degrees. mountains in the mid-20s as well. very cold start to the day. might be a the ice out there in spots. i had some ice in the drive way with some water from saturday still not dry. nice, quiet conditions out there at this hour. should be a good-looking -- not sure it will be a good-looking day. it should be a dry day. we have allot of clouds out to the west and they will start to roll in here later this afternoon along and ahead of our next area of storminess. we'll have a cold front come through later tonight and during the day tomorrow. and it is possible tomorrow we could see a rain and/or snow shower. probably better chance of rain as temperatures will be in the 40s. not a big deal. we'll still have a lot of clouds around tomorrow. tonight, no issues if you are headed out. becoming not g

cumberland. up the mid-atlantic, we have 30 for boston and 30 degrees for new york city. 4 34 to the south in roanoke. today's current temperatures, 35 at d.c. 30 at dulles and 28 at bwi myrrh shall. we are actually a lot cooler than we were yesterday at this time. winds are calm. we had gusty winds and wind chills yesterday as well. that is another factor we don't have to deal with. so that ridge of high pressure in control keeping up the sunshine. it will be cool and chilly as we move through into the course of tomorrow. looks like we'll see showers as we head through into sunday. 46 for today and then sunny skies and chilly. and tonight, 36 degrees. a little bit cooler in the suburbs. prepare for that. we creep into the 60s by the time saturday comes around. that looks great. however, a few showers for your sunday and monday before we get back to dry conditions on tuesday into wednesday. temperatures just rising ever so slightly. another tease from mother nature. >> absolutely. all right. on the roads this morning, it started off around 2:00. the trt overturned on its side loaded with pine

temperatures right now in the low to mid-30s. warm spot here at reagan national, 37. pittsburgh is 28. detroit this morning, 15. that is nice and wold. 28 in boston. new york city 31 degrees. -- that is nice and cold. a couple of things going with this. this will be a quick mover and not terribly strong. so when it moves through the area, i think by late tonight, probably by day break tomorrow, we'll see snow break out across the area. during the morning hours, it will transition south and east into the rain-snow mix and the whole thing will wind down by early tomorrow affect. so we're only talking about the potential at most if it remains all snow, a couple of inches of snow. it will be enough to coat the ground in many places and maybe enough to finally make your first snowball or go sledding. i think most people are going to like this particular snow event. no issues for your friday. partial sunshine. 42 your daytime high here in town. notice,ments colder here north and west. -- notice it is colder here north and west. >> get the sled oiled up and ready for the kid. >> oh, we don't

magnitude is 7.3. a city in the region reported that a small tsunami had hit but there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage. there is no risk of a widespread tsunami. this is the same area that was hit with the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami in march of last year. >>> now to a news alert out of george washington university after police say there was an attempted sexual assault on campus and a series of burglaries. the attack happened in rice haul on tuesday. the burglary took place in the ivory tower dorm yesterday afternoon. the campus has beefed up security near those areas. they have released surveillance photos of two suspects accused of stealing cell phones and laptops from the dorm rooms. >>> a man who worked at the maryland school for the deaf in columbia maryland is facing charges of child sex abuse. investigators say clarence taylor worked as a dorm aide when students slept at the school overnight. he is accused of inappropriately touching three girls. the allegeeled incidents happened between 2008 and 2012 when the victims were just 10, 11 and 12 years old. how

better cab service in the city. beginning tomorrow, new regulation by the taxicab commission will take effect. the new guidelines were created to help phase out older cabs. new regulation so no vehicles more than five years old or with more than 300,000 miles can be in service. the commission will help ensurthe safety, cleanliness and overall performance of district cabs. >>> when it comes to getting the biggest bang for your buck when paying for college, looks like the washington area may be your best bet. in a newly released ranking, maryland and virginia took three of the top spots. university of virginia took over the number two spot. the college of william and mary close behind in the number four spot and the university of maryland, college park right in the middle at number five. six other local schools also placed in the top 100. good place to be. >>> coming up next, we'll check in with fox business network live in times square where some one million will descend in just a few hours to ring in 2013. it will be a lot of people. >> yes, it will.   we'll be right
